I hope all my friends out there had a wonderful Christmas! I had a great day. We stayed home, slept in late and then had my uncle Owen come to visit for the afternoon. I got spoiled with so many presents. I hope Santy Paws was kind to you and your fur kids too!

This is me with my presents! I got more Happy Paws Training Treats – the best treats in the world, new collars, some new toys, some liver treats and some tiger fur material! Leave me a comment telling me what Santy paws brought for you and your family!

Today we went to the boxing day sales. It was crazy out there. So very crowded! I did great though. Mum was worried about me getting stood on but I know my way around a crowd! Now we just have to rest up and get ready for our New Years Eve Party!

The Big Dogs Day Out!

I had a wonderful day today! I went to the Dogs Day Out! It was so much fun. I got to be off duty nearly all day. I got to meet heaps of people and got lots of pats! I also met lots of other dogs, including spending the day with my Italian Greyhound friends who came with us. I showed them what Lure racing was all about. I came second in this race – only because the other dogs didn’t know what to do – hehehehehehe. I also met Santa Paws! Here is a photo of me with him!

And this is me with Boo and Cosi my Igglet friends and their mum Marie! When we came home after the big day out we were all so tired we had our chewies and then went to sleep! Can you see my nose poking out from under the blankets in this photo??

It’s the season to be jolly fa-la-la-la !!

Its officially the silly season! Santa paws is coming so I need to write him a letter!

Dear Santa Paws,

I have been a good dog this year. I would like it if you could bring me some pigs ears and a new squeeky toy for Christmas. I would especially like a new Hide-a-squirrel as I have killed mine. I would also like extra Smackos Rawhides or Happy Paws Training Treats because we are running out of them. I will leave out some milk for you on Christmas eve.

I love Wednesdays!

Wednesday is my favorite day. I love Wednesdays. Wednesday at 2pm mum has a reoccurring appointment and I get to go there off duty! The receptionist there LOVES me! She keeps liver treats in her draw just for me! We go in, and the receptionist greets us with a big smile and comes out from behind the reception desk with my packet of treats and hand feeds me one after the other telling me what a good boy I am! I wave for her, I sit pretty for her and I wag my tail furiously. Its such fun. After we come out from mum’s appointment I get to do it all over again and get more treats! Nom nom nom nom! I love our receptionist and she loves me!

Being Fat is Not a Disability

Last night we received a very hurtful and nasty comment left on my blog. We didn’t approve it because we want my blog to be a happy place but mum feels like she has to address the comment none the less. The commenter said “Being fat is not a disability.” Mum is fat, and that has got nothing to do with her primary disability. Her primary disability can affect anyone of any race, color, creed, gender or even any one of any weight. It doesn’t discriminate at all. And loosing weight would not change the severity of her primary disability in any way.

This commenter has caused mum to take down a couple of posts that had images that she was more visible in. This blog is about me and the work I do – not about mums weight.

If you have not got anything nice to say – dont say anything at all.

Apparently I am a Joke?

One day Mum is going to snot a security guard in the nose! Security guards are a pretty constant thorn in our sides. They rarely bother to read my vest or leash that identify me as an Assistance Dog and regularly go off half cocked trying to kick us out. Today was no exception – we were at the cinemas in line and the security guard approaches mum and tells her that I am not allowed in the cinema. Mum wasn’t feeling the best and her response was snarky. She pointed out my vest and patches and suggested he read in the future. His reply nearly floored us though -”Oh I read it, I just thought it was a JOKE.” Yeha because having a disability is so funny mum makes jokes about that every day! This is not the first time a security guard has suggested my vest was a joke or a costume. *sigh* Mum wonders how these men even dress themselves in the morning let alone hold down a job.

My Uncle Has Been Visiting!

My uncle Owen has been visiting from Queensland! We have been very busy showing him around. We took him to the museum and into the city on Thursday. We rode the train in then caught some trams around the city a bit. When we were at the museum it must have been field trip day – there were so many kids everywhere!

Then on Friday we went for a drive up Mount Dandenong to see the view of all of Melbourne from Sky High! We had a cheese platter up there too. Then on the way back down the mountain we stopped in at the gourmet chocolate shop to have a drink and a chocolate. The lady there didn’t realize I was an assistance dog she asked us to sit outside because of me, but Uncle Owen explained I was an Assistance Dog and then it was OK and we sat inside.

It was nice to spend time with Uncle Owen. We have not seen him in a few years and he gives good pats too!

I didn’t win a race but I won the raffle!

I had so much fun today! Mum took me and my friend Boo the Italian Greyhound to do lure racing. We had a great time. First we got to play in a big fenced off leash area and run and play with all these other little dogs. Then it was time for the racing to begin! I came first in my practice race but that is where my glory ended. I came dead last in all my other races, but I had a lot of fun doing it. Boo is really quick too, when I raced against her she placed 3rd and me 4th.

Our friends from HoundTV were there too. We invited them down and they came along to film a segment about Lure racing for the show. When it goes to air I will upload it here for you all to see.

Despite not winning any races I did win the raffle but the prize was some chicken flavored dog biscuits and I am allergic to chicken so we gave them to the people we were sitting with for the day.

This is my friend Boo! She is staying at my house for a little while!

Nightclubbing is just another thing I take in my stride

Mum and I went nightclubbing on the weekend. Yup, nightclubbing. Some people have expressed concern that this is not an appropriate environment for me to be in. However I wanted to assure everyone that I am totally ok with working in such a demanding environment. Firstly, I am trained to handle this – mum didn’t just pick me up and decide to take me out to a club one night. I get plenty of “sound breaks” where mum takes me outside away from the music – this happens at least every 30 minutes. I am completely comfortable while I am there, Here is a photo of me asleep on the dace floor.
